TNW Corporation celebrated the successful completion of a new interchange between Texas Gonzales and Northern Railway (TXGN) and Union Pacific Railroad on on Wednesday, July 26th, with a ribbon cutting ceremony in Gonzales, Texas. The project, costing almost $5M, was funded by TNW and a matching grant through the federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Program.
The construction of the new railroad interchange boasts modern technology in the infrastructure using power switches, welded rail, steel ties and drainage enhancements. The improvements will enhance safe operations while expanding capacity. As rail volumes continue to grow, the new construction allows TXGN to expedite the handling of unit trains, encourage regional economic development through competitive transportation options and work seamlessly with the latest rail industry standards.

TNW’s CRISI application was championed by U.S. Senator John Cornyn, U.S. Rep. Michael Cloud (TX-27), U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela (TX-34), TXDOT, Union Pacific Railroad, several TNW customers, and the community of Gonzales, Texas.

TXGN Railway has been providing rail transport, storage and operations since 1992. Located midway between Gonzales and Harwood, off U.S. I-10, TXGN owns and/or manages 12 lead miles of track between Harwood and Gonzales, and approximately 67 miles of storage and loop track. TXGN interchanges with the Union Pacific Railroad and handles cars from energy-related products to grain and animal feed meals; clay/bentonite and raw and finished heavy metal products.
