HR Specialist

Reporting Locations: TNW Corporate Office in Dallas, Texas

The HR Specialist will support a variety of HR duties including, but not limited to, recruiting and screening candidates, onboarding, employee engagement, benefits administration, and performance management. This position will follow the best strategies to find the most suitable and skilled candidates for each position. The HR Specialist will work closely with the Director of HR to support the business. 


Reports directly to the Director of HR 


Reporting Location: Corporate Office located in Dallas, Texas

Position Summary

Education & Work Experience:

• Associate degree in business, human resources, or equivalent mix of experience and education, bachelor’s degree preferred

• Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in HR Generalist or Specialist roles of progressively increasing responsibility

• Proven track record of working in middle market companies with a small HR team

• Experience working in the rail, logistics or transportation industry helpful

• HR certifications, either SPHR or PHR preferred

• Knowledge of federal and state labor laws

• Excellent interpersonal verbal and written communication skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

• Comfortable working in a small corporate work environment

• Experience with full cycle recruiting and onboarding of employees

• Must be self-directed, highly motivated, and flexible in establishing priorities to manage multiple activities in a fast-paced work environment

• Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and collaboratively as part of a team

• Demonstrate strong organizational skills and attention to detail

• Positive attitude and excellent problem-solving skills


License and Certification:

• Current driver's license with clear driving record and no restrictions

Position Requirements

• Manage the recruiting and hiring process to include writing job descriptions, posting jobs, sourcing and screening candidates, performing background checks, and coordinating the interview process.

• Coordinate the on-boarding process for new hires to ensure compliance with all company and legal requirements and to familiarize the new hire with company benefits and policies

• Provide management of annual employee performance system

• Regular updating and filing of confidential personnel records and files

• Partner with the Director of Human Resources to formulate HR related initiatives to best support business objectives

• Updating the company’s private database with employee records associated with recruiting, onboarding, and employment

Roles and Responsibilities

• This is a full-time position in TNW’s Corporate office

• The position regularly works inside a well-lighted, climate-controlled office and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, and filing cabinets

• The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate

Work Environment

• Must be able to sit and stand for extended periods of time

• Must be able to walk, stand, bend, stoop, and twist to retrieve files and office records

• Must be able to regularly lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds with assistance

• Good hearing and vision required

Physical Requirements

• Willing to submit to background verification and pre-employment drug test
