TNW’s Director of Business Support and Development, Joey Evans, participated in the annual Railroad Day on Capitol Hill on May 8, meeting with Congressional Representatives to discuss items of importance for short line railroads, and to encourage support of federal Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements (CRISI) Grants. TNW companies TXGN and TXNW have been able to make key infrastructure upgrades that improve safety and service thanks to this private-public funding.
Evans met with U.S. Representatives Henry Cuellar (TX-28) and August Pfluger (TX-11). Pfluger’s district includes our TXR Railway, and he has been a strong supporter in TNW’s effort to obtain to a CRISI Grant for that location. Cuellar, who’s meeting with Evans also included representatives from the Short Line Safety Institute and Hatch Ltd., has also expressed support for short line railroads and infrastructure improvement.
Evans emphasized to the Congressmen that CRISI Grant funding benefits extend to the areas in which they’re implemented both short- and long-term, boosting their job growth and economies.
“I’m thankful to Representative Pfluger and Representative Cuellar for taking the time to hear me on issues that are important to short line railroads”, says Evans. “Their support is key to TNW’s infrastructure plans for the future.” Evans invited each Congressman to a tour of our railroad facilities at their convenience.
