Managerial railroad operation experience required
5 years of rail operations managment experience prefered

Availability
Requires commitment to irregular work hours in support of the success of a 24/7 operation
Occasionally works extended hours and shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
This position has a supervisory responsibility for all employees at the railroad
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Demonstrate and lead with Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Leadership, and Quality
Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations, and the Federal Railroad Association (FRA)
Accountable for the daily operations of the railroad and must be able to conduct analysis in areas such as: efficiency, job cost, and work schedule efficiency; identify, propose, and implement continuous process improvements and changes to best meet company goals. Conduct incident and accident investigations: identify root causes and propose changes to decrease risk of reoccurrence
Monitor the accuracy of work reports and car movement records
Assist in the oversight of overall financial performance of the railroad to include P&L, yearly budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and communicating results to Director of Operations and other senior leadership
Execute leadership aligned with the Company’s strategic goals
Provide leadership, mentoring and guidance to team with execution of projects; set performance goals, and provide on-going coaching of employees to achieve career objectives, cultivate a high-performance culture; and build a leadership pipeline throughout the railroad. Set the example, create, and lead the culture of mutual respect, cooperation, and attention to detail for employees to deliver profitable execution on company goals
Develop and maintain close working relationships with customers and community development departments
Visit customers and community leaders on a regular basis to assess areas where the railroad can be of more assistance and more visible
Hire, train, and retain railroad employees
Develop train schedules, testing and certifications, performance appraisals, resolving problems, and discipline
Monitor staffing needs and overtime utilization
Input and approve payroll timesheets for biweekly payroll
Communicate with CEO, Director of Operations, Vice President of Marketing, Director of Finance, Director of Human Resources, and Director of Safety
Build a strong culture of employee engagement.
Working Conditions
Indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions (could be extreme) on even and uneven surfaces and on various heights of equipment
May be with noise, chemicals, and fumes
Will be required to stand, sit, walk, squat, climb, and reach with hands and arms
May occasionally be required to lift or carry up to 50 pounds
Special Requirements
Working knowledge of FRA regulations and requirements for the operation and movement of trains.
Working knowledge of railroad operations, including, but not limited to, maintenance of way, transportation, mechanical and clerical.
Comply with all company and FRA safety procedures, policies, and rules, including wearing required safety equipment.
Required to successfully complete a post-offer employment test: medical and physical evaluation related to the physical requirements of the essential functions of the job, as well as a drug screen and criminal background check.
